God saved my life today.
I was driving home from church this morning around 12:30 pm on Inman Avenue in Edison/Colonia. Somewhere along the way, I was stuck behind a tractor-trailer. It was towering and I have never seen one before on this route.
This church service was very special to me. It was a "wake up" that God wants to bring me closer to Him. I was filled with the Holy Ghost leaving church today and was praying/praising in my car. If it were not for this, I may not have been so aware of the truck in front of me and its strangeness on the road.
I found myself thinking "This truck is going to take down a power line - or maybe hit a tree branch." Now, I know Inman Avenue is a busy road but it's also residential in several parts. I just don't know why a truck like this would be passing through on this road. Of course, several minutes after envisioning the truck hitting a power line, it actually happened.
Somewhere between Feather Bed Lane and Wood Avenue, the truck ripped off a power line stretching across the street. The line snaked in mid-air above my vehicle as I slammed on my breaks. Thankfully, the line did not land on my car bur rather two feet in front of my vehicle. Though it was not sparking, I did not want to risk driving over it so I gathered my composure and went around it carefully. The fact that the line may have been live still and could have landed on my car was disconcerning to say the least. However, what isn't disconcerning is that the first thought after that went through my head was, "THANK GOD."
Maybe it wasn't a live line at that point when it was ripped off the pole by the truck (which, by the way, kept moving forward until out of sight) but any type of situation like that is worthy of praise and thanksgiving to the LORD.
I love God and I am so happy that He has shown me such abundance of joy, prosperity, and love in my life since I have taken Jesus into my heart as Lord and Savior. And I am so thankful for the protection that He has given me from events such as this. Whether or not it would've hurt me, I am thankful knowing God was there with me.
Whether or not you believe God saved my life today, it is still a fact that God saved our lives many years ago on the cross. And this can never be forgotten or taken away from. Jesus Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice by shedding His blood for us (untainted blood, God's blood) so that we may be shown grace and favor by the Father. This event has reminded me that God saves lives daily and even if we don't see it or recognize it as something as chaotic as a downed power line, His saving power extends to something just as simple as turning a broken heart into a joyful heart. His saving power can be found in what He did years ago by taking the worst beating known to man so that we do not have to dwell in the flesh (sinful nature) but rather receive the Holy Ghost and lift our spirits up to God. This may have been years ago, but His mercy and love endures forever, keeping Jesus our eternal savior.
What a better time of year to recognize and remember His Majesty than His very own birthday. God bless and have a Merry Christmas!!!
